Eugene Blanchard, Sr.
It is with broken hearts and sweet memories the family of Mr. Eugene Blanchard, Sr., 88, of Jennings announces his passing on Sept. 9, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
In accordance with Mr. Blanchard’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Mr. Blanchard was born Sept. 7, 1934, in Jennings to Marcel and Alice Landry Blanchard. After leaving high school, Mr. Blanchard served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 on active duty and from 1960 to 1962 in the reserves.
He was very dedicated and proud to work as an electrician for Citgo for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Following his retirement, Mr. Blanchard worked at Garber Farms for 19 years as an electrician, retiring from there in 2019 at the age of 85.
Mr. Blanchard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved all his family and was very proud of each of them. He enjoyed hunting in his spare time, horses and Mardi Gras.
He was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Jennings.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 61 years, Elsie Roy Blanchard; two daughters, Jena (Tim) Guidry of Jennings and Jeanell Blanchard of Lake Charles; two sons, Eugene “Geno” Blanchard, Jr., of Sorrento and Gerald (Laura) Blanchard of Jennings; one brother, Herbert Blanchard of Hathaway; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; two brothers and three grandsons, Jerrod, David and Zachary.
