Evelyn Sue Courville
Evelyn Sue Courville, 75, of Jennings passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a five-year battle with cancer.
A Funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jennings Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, starting at 10 a.m., followed by a graveside service in Gueydan Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, from 2-8 p.m., with a rosary starting at 6 p.m.
Sue was born on Dec. 10, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Dennis Paul and Amy Theriot.
Sue had many hobbies and loved to have fun. Many days could find Sue playing with her flowers, playing cards and games with her ladies and always making time for her Rosary group. Sue was one to always do things for others; she didn’t tell you what you wanted to hear, instead she told what you needed to hear. Her favorite thing that always made her smile was spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Courville; and her siblings, Glenda Domec, Dennis and Jerry Theriot.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Horace) Hargrave of Lafayette; her sons, Dennis (Christi) Hargrave of Pride and David (Tara) Hargrave of Lakeside, Calif.; her stepsons, Victor (Jean) Courville of Jennings, George “Jody” (Angie) Courville Jr. of Broomfield, Colo., and Kimbol Courville of Jennings; her stepdaughters, Dora Courville of Jennings and Sandy (Phil) Rizzuto of Berthoud, Colo.; her siblings, Joann Curtis, Jan (Mike) Stelly, Terry (Beverly) Theriot, Richard Theriot, Kim (Tammy) Theriot and Jay (Sarah) Theriot; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and beloved extended family.
Serving as Sue’s pallbearers will be Chris Courville, Sam Hargrave, Blake Landry, Horace Hargrave, Victor Courville and Austin Boudreaux Jr.
Honorary pallbearer will be Brody Landry.
The family would like to express thanks to Heart of Texas Hospice nurses, John, Katy and the all of their staff for all that they did for Sue; Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur, Texas, and Matthews and Son in Jennings; The family would also like to give a special thanks to Aunt Jo, Uncle Buck and his family for stepping in and opening their home and becoming Sue’s caregiver.
