Hertha Bergeaux Fruge’
A mass of Christian burial for Hertha Bergeaux Fruge’, 96, of Jennings will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at 10 a.m., with Father Keith Pellerin officiating. 0n Tuesday, December 29, 2020, Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, from 4-6 p.m.at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings, with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, from 8 a.m. until her funeral mass at 10 a.m.
Entombment will be at Calvary Mausoleum.
Hertha passed away at 7 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020.
Hertha was born in Evangeline at home to the late Julian and Angelina Lejeune Bergeaux on June 26, 1924. She was a graduate of Iota High School. She married Ulysses Fruge’ on June 7, 1941, and was married for 66 years.
Hertha was a dedicated wife and mother who always put her family first. She enjoyed gardening, reading, baking and doing for others. Hertha was a devout member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, where she taught catechism and was a lay minister of the Eucharist to the sick and homebound. Her strong faith, especially her love of the Holy Eucharist and her wisdom, was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Frederick and husband, Ronald; one son, Ronald James Fruge’ and wife, Cindy; four grandchildren, Kristy Ramirez and husband, David, Claire Bailey and husband, Brian, John Frederick and wife, Shayra, and Kelsey Fruge’; and 12 great-grandchildren, Cohen Ramirez, Luke Ramirez, and Julien Ramirez; Brennan Bailey, Matthew Bailey, Caroline Bailey, Ethan Bailey, Adeline Bailey and Aubrey Kate Bailey, Daniel Guzman, Christian Frederick and Amelia Frederick.
Hertha was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Angelina Bergeaux; her husband, Ulysses Fruge’; five brothers, Allie, Cleveland, Jester, Howard and Clifton; and four sisters, Eva Miller, Attie Hebert, Loah Simar and Rita Wade.
Carrying Hertha to her final resting place in Calvary Cemetery will be David Ramirez, Jr., Brian Bailey, Brennan Bailey, Matthew Bailey, Cohen Ramirez and Luke Ramirez.
