Funeral services with full military honors for Mr. James Benoit, 68, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, in Miguez Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Pat Deshotel officiating. Funeral home visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday; and will continue from 8 a.m. today, Thursday until time of services. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Benoit died at 4:38 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, in his residence. He was a native of Jennings and a graduate of Jennings High School Class of 1968. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam era. He worked as a floorhand in the oil and gas industry. He is survived by three sisters, Glenda Dupont, Sharon Broussard and Hilda Richard, all of Jennings; one brother, Charles Benoit of Lake Arthur; a host of nieces and nephews; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ogden and Irene Miller Benoit; three brothers, Clifton, Ogden Jr. and Preston Benoit; and one sister, Linda Benoit Lapoint. Pallbearers will be Curth Romero, Andrew Johnson, Brian Dupont, Cliff Dupont, Keegan Miller and Alvin Lapoint, Jr. Words of comfort may be expressed to the family at www.miguezfuneralhome.com.
