Joanne Cormier-Malveaux

It is with a heavy heart that we share with you a mother, daughter, a sister and friend, Mrs. Joanne Cormier-Malveaux, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of family and friends on May 22, 2022.
Mrs. Malveaux requested to be cremated and have a private funeral service with the family.
Mrs. Malveaux was born in Lake Arthur on Oct. 23, 1950. She attended Charles P. Adams Elementary School, Lake Arthur High School and Jennings Jeff Davis School in the graduating Class of 1968. After graduation, she worked as server at the Lake Shore Club in Lake Arthur. Through the years, she worked at Winn Dixie food store as a cashier and the original Wal-Mart as a cashier, customer service manager, service desk cashier and layaway assistant manager.
She enjoyed visiting the casino and enjoying their delicious food. She loved cooking, playing cards, pool and dominoes with family and friends, as well as viewing Facebook, writing poems and watching her favorite game show, Family Feud.
Mrs. Malveaux is survived by her two sons, Elridge Malveaux of Jennings and stepson Wayne Nelson Jones of Lake Charles; her mother, Willa Cormier of Jennings; four sisters, Annie (Clifford) Collins of Lake Charles, July Davis of Dallas and Denise Davis and Myrtle Davis, both of Jennings; three brothers; Arthur Cormier of Houston, Carl Davis of Breaux Bridge and Wayne (Cynthia) Julien of Lake Charles; two uncles, Benny (Tamara) Cormier of Sicklerville, N.J., and Preston (Thelma) Cormier of Lake Charles; one aunt, Barbara (Gary) Trahan of Lake Charles; a large host of cousins, nieces, nephews, niece and nephews-in-law, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Edmond (Carolyn) Charles of Lake Arthur. Other close friends include Mrs. Evelvia “Packy” Williams, Ms. Debra and Shelia Gordon, all of Jennings, and Ms. Dorothy “Auntie Dot” Baxter of Lake Charles.
Mrs. Malveaux is preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald J. Cormier and Elridge G. Cormier; one sister, Wilfretta M. Cormier; her father, Ernest W. Davis, and her BFF for over 20 years, Robert “Pooky” Carter Jr.
Mrs. Malveaux’s family would like to give a special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and specialist teams who had a share in supporting her through this journey.
