John was born to Hampton and Rena Ardoin on Jan. 2, 1939, in Basile.
He graduated from Basile High School where he was a proud Bearcat who excelled at football. John was known to be very busy during his high school years as he was a student as well as being enlisted with the National Guard where he learned welding as a trade.
After graduating, he enlisted in the Marines and remained for two years before returning home. He was a hardworking man and worked for Lo-Lift in Welsh, Hunt Tool in Jennings and retired from PPG in Lake Charles. While working a full-time job, he maintained a family and a farm.
John was known as a loving family man. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, breeding horses and working the cows. He was a jack of all trades.
He loved his God and shared his faith with his family. As a child, he served as an altar boy in Basile and had a good relationship with the church. He attended mass at Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Welsh after marrying Lydia Arceneaux, his spouse of 61 years.
He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 0283 and VFW 9046 of Welsh. He felt that he was more a part of the Welsh community after joining.
He is welcomed into Heaven by his parents; brothers Allen and Ray Ardoin; sister Joycelyn Thatcher and infant son, Jonathan Ardoin.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Lydia Ardoin; son Charles Hampton Ardoin and sister Frances Leger.
Pallbearers will be Noel Arceneaux, Chris Miller, Tom Davis, Jeremy Davis and Brent Ardoin.
Honorary pallbearer is Alvin Cox. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hixsonwelsh.com for the Ardoin family.
