John ‘Big John’ Jay Ramagos

John “Big John” Jay Ramagos, 66, of Welsh passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020.

The family would like to welcome family and friends for a visitation Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh from 10 a.m. until 5:15 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at 5:30 p.m. in Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh. A rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.

John was born Aug. 6, 1953, to Sammy Joseph Ramagos and Joyce Nolan Ramagos.

“Big John” was a lifelong resident of Welsh. He loved being outdoors, especially cooking and fishing. Anyone that knew him knew he had a huge heart of gold, loved to joke, had a personality that was larger than life and, most importantly, he lived for his grandchildren. John was a truck driver for Central Crude for over 20 years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Michelle Ramagos of Welsh; one son, Bo Ramagos; other children, Shaun and Paige Landry of Colorado; four grandchildren, Mason, Sophie and Isabel Ramagos and Hayden Hurst; three nieces, Kelly Roberson (Glen) of Victoria, Texas, Renee Boudreaux (Aaron) of Mandeville and Robin Ramagos of Shreveport; three great-nephews, Tyler Chaisson (Kaitlyn) of Welsh and Gavin and Gaige Roberson; a great-niece, Khloe Roberson; a brother, Robert Ramagos (Rita) of Welsh; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Iguess (Red) of Welsh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy Joseph Ramagos and Joyce Nolan Ramagos.
