Joseph Lloyd Guidry, Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Lloyd Guidry, Sr., 92, of Jennings will be held at 1 p.m. today, Friday, July 29, 2022, in Miguez Funeral Home, with Deacon Wayne Chapman officiating.
Visitation for Mr. Guidry began Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 3-10 p.m. A Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume today, Friday, from 9 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service time.
Burial will follow in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Mr. Guidry was born July 19, 1930, in Lake Arthur to Genius and Nedia Trahan Guidry.
He was a high school graduate, whereafter he joined the United States Navy. He served honorably in the Navy during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Guidry was a lifelong resident of the area.
He passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the Southwest Veterans Home, where he enjoyed playing Bingo and socializing. He also loved gardening, baking, joking and enjoyed being around his family.
He treated everyone he met with kindness and a smile. He treated people for different illnesses.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Darlene (Ricky) Fontenot of Ville Platte; son Robert “Bobby” Guidry of Richmond, Texas; seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Una Marie Roche Guidry; daughter Charlotte Ann Guidry; sons Darrell J. Guidry and Joseph L. Guidry, Jr.; three sisters, Eula Broussard, Dorothy Broussard and Joyce Gaspard; three brothers, Charlie, Wallace and Rufus Guidry and two grandsons, Craig and Derrick Guidry.
