Joseph Placide Hebert
LAKE ARTHUR — A Mass of Christian burial was held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church for Joseph Placide Hebert, 89, of Lake Arthur at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, with Father Jay Alexis officiating.
Visitation was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, from 3-9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. The family requested that visitation resume Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, from 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral Mass. Placide was born in Klondike on Aug. 3, 1932, to John Luce Hebert and Estella LaCombe. Placide was called from this life on Oct. 29, 2021, while in the company of his three sons.
Placide worked as a welder. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree.
Placide loved planting, digging up and bringing potatoes to everyone he knew. His greatest joys came from spending time and making memories with all of his family. He looked forward to the family couchon de lait at Cypress Pointe every year. He also loved riding Old Blue.
Placide was a kind and loving man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Placide is survived by his sons, Randy Hebert (Cynthia) of Baker, Kelly Hebert of Gueydan and Kenny Hebert of Lake Arthur; his grandchildren, Jared Hebert, Derek Hebert (Danielle), Kristian Hebert, Blake Hebert (Christina), Cason Hebert, Halie Hebert and Sarah Thibodeaux; his great-grandchildren, Jase Hebert, Deklyn Hebert and Sadie Jane Hebert; his sisters, Jean Benoit, Lorena Fontenot, Emily Futrell, Velma Poole and Jessie Lou Fontenot; his special aunt, Elda Hebert; as well as a future great-grandchild, Oakley Mae Guidry.
Placide was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Jane Bergeron Hebert; his parents, John Luce and Estella LaCombe Hebert; his brothers, Louis, Roy, Jessie Lee, Vernice and Clarence Hebert; his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hebert; and his faithful companion, Buddy.
