Joyce Lee Hebert
A Mass of Christian burial for Joyce Lee Hebert, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evangeline, with Father Paul LaFleur officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings beginning Sunday, July 24, from 3-9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. The family requests that visitation resume Monday, July 25, from 9 a.m. until time of his funeral Mass.
Burial will follow in Reed Cemetery.
Joyce was born in Basile on Sept. 21, 1938, to Frank Hebert and Beatrice Klump Hebert. He was called from this life on July 21, 2022. Joyce worked for many years as a field farmer, then he worked for irrigation canal company, as well as Baroid Drilling in Cameron. He also loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding horses and raising rabbits and quails. Joyce also enjoyed making sausage and watching Western movies, as well as spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joyce is survived by his son, George Hebert (Jennifer) of Evangeline; his daughter, Elizabeth Lavergne (Frank) of Evangeline; his five grandchildren, Jessica (Jamie) Koula, Rebecca Hebert, Sarah (Toby) Hebert, Stacy (Dustin) Lavergne and Frank Lavergne, Jr. and his 11 greatgrandchildren, Johnathan, Benjamin, Matthew, Breanna, Chloe, Alayah, Caiden, Brantley, Clara, Bryan and Alan.
Joyce was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Hebert; his parents, Frank and Beatrice Hebert; two brothers, Curby and Velton Hebert; one sister, Audrey Kegley; greatgranddaughter Heidi Dietz and great-grandson Dustin Touchet, Jr.
Those chosen to honor Joyce as his pallbearers will be Edward Mire, Frank Lavergne, Jr., Ben Koula, Mike Kegley, Ted Fontenot and Kenneth Bergeaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Lavergne, Sr. and Matthew Koula.
