Junious Handy
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Junious Handy, 100, of Jennings announces that he peacefully transitioned to everlasting rest on May 2, 2022.
A Mass of Christian burial for Junious Handy will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2022.
Burial will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 9 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
Junious was born in Mermentau to Julius Handy and Mary LeBlanc Handy on Nov. 11, 1921. Junious served our country honorably and proudly in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. He was a very hard worker and a great provider for his family. Junious loved the outdoors, keeping up his garden and working in his yard, as well as fishing or playing a round of golf. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Junious will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories the love of his life and wife of 79 years, Magdalene Chaison Handy of Jennings; his daughter, Jacqueline Duplantier of Jennings; his grandsons, Jim Duplantier (Irene) of Austin, Texas, and Chantler Duplantier of Dallas, Texas; his greatgrandson, Ryan Duplantier of Waco, Texas, and his sister, Thelma Shaw.
Junious was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Mary LeBlanc Handy; his brothers, Louis Handy, Dewey Handy and Wallace Handy and his sister, Grace McZeal.
