Sept. 29, 1944 - Sept. 28, 2022 ELTON — Funeral services for Larrell “Jim” Richard, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Elton, with Rev. Jose Vattakunnel officiating.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home today, Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Burial will follow at China Cemetery.
Larrell, affectionately known as Jim, was a loving husband to his wife, Linda, for 55 years, as well as a loving father, brother and grandfather.
He grew up in Jennings and graduated from Jennings High School. From there, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served our country for four years. After serving, he attended college at USL and graduated in 1971, earning his bachelor’s degree. Jim worked for FMC Corporation for 38 years and wore many hats throughout his time with them.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid gun collector. He always made sure his lawn was pristine. More than anything, Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Jim’s memory include his wife, Linda LaFleur Richard; son David Richard and wife, Katherine, of Fanwood, N.J.; two daughters, Kari Powell and husband, Kevin, of Allen, Texas, and Kristi Hamil and husband, Brad, of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; two brothers, Reed Richard and wife, Lorene, of Katy, Texa and Gerald Richard and wife, Theresa, of Westlake; sister Barbara Chaisson and husband, Donald, of Pine Island and seven grandchildren, Maggie, Ellie, Emma, Jackson, Kerrigan, Morgan and Harrison, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Sandrus and Allie Richard, and two sisters and their husbands, Jean and Harold Lawless and Murleen and Billy Aucoin.
