She will be put to rest beside her loving husband in Calvary Cemetery in Jennings.
Leola was the youngest of five children born of Homer and Irma Fontenot Lopez on Feb. 4, 1934.
She was an amazing sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Leola Mae married the love of her life, Claude Martin PreJean, on June 12, 1954, and shared 42 amazing years together. They are now reunited in heaven, where he has been waiting for her. Oh, what a reunion that will be!
Leola loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the apples of her eye.
She graduated from Lacassine High School in 1953. She was a retired cafeteria worker with the Jefferson Davis School Board. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren and also donating them to auctions for those suffering from cancer. Leola also enjoyed reading Danielle Steele books, making dolls, baking and canning preserves and figs. And above all, praying her daily rosary.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she devoted her time to adoration every week and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. Leola will be greatly missed by all, especially her devoted family.
Leola leaves behind three beautiful daughters, Debra Ann “Debbie” Richard of Jennings, Irma Jean (Jorge) Miranda of Byron, Ga., and Angela Kaye “Angie” Gotreaux of Jennings; five loving grandchildren, Greg (Julie) Richard of Jennings, Falisha (Jason) LeJeune of Mermentau, Jonathan Miranda of Houston, Texas, Kaleb Gotreaux of Jennings and Carmelita (Joey) McKinney of Macon, Ga.; and three precious great-grandchildren, Cooper and Ella LeJeune and Avery Richard.
Those angels that left too soon include an infant son; grandson, Joshua Miranda; and great-grandson, Bradan Allemand. She is also reunited in heaven with her son-in-law, Robert “T-boy” Richard; her parents; and her siblings, Edna Leger, Helen Doucet, Wilson Lopez and Willie Lopez.
Those honoring her wishes by carrying her to her final resting place will be Greg Richard, Jonathan Miranda, Kaleb Gotreaux, Jason LeJeune, Cooper LeJeune and Wayne PreJean, with Ella LeJeune leading.
Honorary pallbearers will be Falisha LeJeune, Carmelita Mckinney and Avery Richard.
