Ludie S. Trahan
It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ludie S. Trahan announces her passing from this life on Dec. 17, 2020, at the age of 91.
Funeral services were held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at 2 p.m., with Roy Platt officiating.
A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at 2 p.m.
Burial followed in Andrus Cove Cemetery.
Ludie was born in Jennings to Rufus Smith, Sr., and Eleanor Bellard Smith on Oct. 15, 1929. She was a homemaker who dedicated her life to the care of her family. Ludie loved to cook, bake, sew and tend to her roses and flowers, as well as sitting and drinking coffee on the front porch.
She was an exemplary mother and grandmother, known for her kind demeanor. Ludie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ludie is survived by her son, Don G. (Donna) Trahan of Jennings; her daughters, Paula (Dean) St. Cyr of Jennings, Sherry (Mickey) Freyou of Natchitoches and Julie Dupont of Jennings; her brother, Bobby Smith of Jennings; her sister, Janice Comeaux of Jennings; her nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
Ludie was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Horace J. Trahan; her parents, Rufus and Eleanor Smith; her son-in-law, Richard Dupont; and her siblings, Emery Smith, Clifford Smith, Earl Smith, Rufus Smith, Jr., Clyde Smith, Belva Rice, Walter Smith and Robert Smith.
