Martin Wayne ‘Gate’ Richard

LAKE ARTHUR - Funeral services for Mr. Martin Wayne “Gate” Richard, 73, of Jennings was held

Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating.

Visitation for Mr. Richard was held Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, from 2-10 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed Saturday from 8 a m. and concluded at 9:30 a.m. for the procession to the church.

Burial followed in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Mr. Richard worked as a supervisor in the oil and gas industry. He was a 1965 graduate of Goretti High School and lived in the Jennings/Lake Arthur area his entire life. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3012.

Mr. Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, Margene Istre Richard of Lake Arthur; two daughters and a son-in-law, Laurie Mae Richard of Jennings and Julie Richard Agent and husband, Jimmy, of Lake Arthur; son, Andy Wayne Richard of Welsh; two sisters, Cheryl Price and Rena Gaspard, both of Lake Arthur; two brothers, Raymond Richard of Lake Arthur and Gerald Richard of Johnson Bayou; five granddaughters, Alaina, Ashlyn, and Abby Agent, Ava Richard and Allie Fontenot; one great-granddaughter, Zora Jane Agent; and a fur baby, Daisey Mae.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin “Bybo” Richard, Jr., and Rena LeGros Richard; and one sister, Becky Roy.
