Funeral services for Mary Alice Thibodeaux Martin, 96, of Jennings will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings today, Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at 2 p.m.

Visitation was held at the funeral home Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, from 3:30-8 p.m., and will resume today, Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral service.

Alice will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.

Alice was born in Kaplan on May 23, 1922, to John E. Thibodeaux and Edith Simon Thibodeaux and was called to her Heavenly Father on Feb. 9, 2019.

She worked for many years at J and B Fabrics and Briar Patch. Alice was a standing member of First Baptist Church in Jennings. She ministered to the women at Jeff Davis Parish Correctional Center for 29 years. Alice loved reading her Bible. She also enjoyed visiting with the homebound seniors and keeping them up-to-date on current church activities.

Alice was very involved with her daughter and schooling when she was a client at the Louisiana State School in Iota. When Bonnie Sue was moved to a group home in Jennings, Alice would walk to meet her every day. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother and friend. Alice was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Alice is survived by her children, Janice Martin Segura, Jane Ellen Martin Delcambre and Bonnie Sue Martin; grandchildren, Kimberly Segura Eschete (Paul), Daymon Segura (Tricia), Shawn LaBauve (Nicole) and Dawn LaBauve Chapman (Dwayne); 13 great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith T. Gutierre.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Edith S. Thibodeaux; beloved husband of 48 years, Harry E. Martin; and siblings, Enaze Adams, Ednaze Roché, Amie Thibodeaux, Edia Abshire, Noemie Lanthier, Frank Thibodeaux, Ann Matthew, Wilton Thibodeaux and Elmo Thibodeaux.

Carrying Alice to her final resting place in Greenwood Cemetery will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Shawn LaBauve, Shawn LaBauve, Jr., Daymon Sergura, Davin Sergura, Kylan Trahan and Hayden Eschete.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Chapman and Brendan LaBauve.
