Mary Fontenot
It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mary Fontenot announces her passing from this life on May 27, 2020, at the age of 80.
Funeral services for Mary Fontenot, 80, of Jennings will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 2 p.m., with Reverend Austin Crochet officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, June 3, 2020, from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mary was born in Jennings to Houston Fontenot and Hazel Deshotel on Dec. 19, 1939. Mary was a homemaker and dedicated her life to the care of her family. She loved music, dancing and cooking. Mary’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and telling them stories. She was a kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Howard Daigle (Betty) of Plaquemine and Harold Vincent (Cherry) of Hathaway; her four daughters, Sally Daigle Porter of Jennings, Susan Daigle Smith of Jennings, Wanda Daigle of Jennings and Brenda Murry of Lake Charles; her brother, Terry James Fontenot of Zwolle; her sister, Shirley Williams of Crowley; her 16 grandchildren; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Hazel Fontenot; her three children, Debra Sonnier, Charles Joseph Daigle and Michael Wayne Daigle; her three grandsons, Thomas Joseph Bolich and Timothy James Bolich and Richard Wayne Sonnier, II; her greatgranddaughter, Mia Lopez; her two sons-in-law, Jack Porter and Todd Murry; and her brother, Jerry Joseph Fontenot.
Those chosen to be her pallbearers will be Michael Gregory Daigle, Harold Lee Vincent, Skyler Kent Gatte, Keagan James Lapoint, Cory Jaden Gatte and Sally Daigle Porter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Ray Daigle, Cody Wade Gatte, Logan Heath Young and Dwight Wayne Dugas, Jr.
