Maurice Carrol Miller

A Mass of Christian burial for Maurice Carrol Miller, 77, of Vinton will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home beginning today, Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, from 4-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. The family requests that visitation resume Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the time of his funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Maurice was born in Egan on Tuesday, June 20, 1944, to Maurice George Miller and Lydia Simar. He was called from this life on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021.

Maurice worked as an operator in the petroleum industry, a job he loved. He also loved playing golf.

Maurice’s greatest joys came from spending time and making memories with his family. Maurice was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Maurice is survived by two daughters, Chrystal Miller Brooks (Daniel) of Abilene, Texas, and Sonya Miller Fontenot (Brandon) of Vinton; his granddaughter, Kailey Ewing Young (Tyler) of Sulphur, LA; his great granddaughter, Mollie Kate Rougeau; his two sisters, Roxy Perry (Bobby) of Mermentau and Geneva Miller Thomas (Bill) of Houston, Texas.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Lydia Miller; his beloved wife, Margaret Bellard Miller; and his siblings, Curlis Doucet, Joyce Duplichien, Grace Guidry, Francis LeJeune and Leona Mae Miller.
