Nelson Fontenot

The family and friends of Mr. Nelson Fontenot are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.

Funeral services for Mr. Nelson will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at 5 p.m.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, from 1-5 p.m.

Nelson was born in Jennings to Eugene Fontenot and Norma Lee Roy on Oct. 10, 1957.

He worked at Farm Supply for many years where he got to know the community, as well as David Prejean Construction where he took great pride in his carpentry work. He loved animals, especially his dogs, and enjoyed life’s simple pleasures such as being outdoors, fishing and always making people laugh.

He loved and was very proud of his grandchildren. He was known to never meet a stranger and was the life of any party with family and friends. Nelson will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Nelson is survived by his wife, Peggy Holland; his children, Shane Lee Fontenot (Brandi), Genie Fontenot, Shira Holland, Brittany Holland, Brianna Holland and Benjamin Holland; his grandchildren, Kamryn Fontenot, Olivia Fontenot, Alija Moore, Rimya Moore, Coys Thomas III, Jacoys Thomas, Harley Cormier and Darian Fruge; brothers, Randall Keith Fontenot and Roger Dale Fontenot; sister, Mona Fontenot; and special cousin and sister, Bonnie Breaux Delome.

Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Norma Lee Fontenot; and brothers, Ricky Breaux and Carter “Booger” Credeur.
