Noella Lyons Black
JENNINGS — Funeral services for Mrs. Noella Lyons Black, 100, of New Orleans will be held on Monday, August 7 at 1 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation for Mrs. Black will begin on Monday, August 7 at 11 a.m. and continue until the 1 p.m. service.
Mrs. Black was born on December 25, 1922, in Port Sulphur to Martin Adrian Lyons and Fanny Ballay Lyons. She got her college degree in Education from Northwest State University. She was a homemaker and teacher and excelled at both. Mrs. Black was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church of New Orleans.
Mrs. Black passed into the arms of her heavenly Father on July 31, 2023, at her home in New Orleans surrounded by her loving and cherished family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Elizabeth Black Anderson; her son, Dr. William Geyman Black; grandchildren, William Lee Brigman, Bonnie Brigman Kerker, Emily Black Grey, Elizabeth Black Monteleone, Tyler William Black-Hernandez and Chelsea Jean Black; great grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Grey, Sara Grace Grey, William Kerker, Elizabeth Kerker, Trevor Pink, Katherine Brigman, Noella Brigman and Charles William Grey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Geyman Black; her parents; sisters, Mary Lyons Bolhalter, Cecilia Lyons Yundt, Myrtle Lyons Bonneval and Fanny Lyons Telford; and one brother, Martin “Bud” Lyons.
