O’Neal Peters

TEE MAMOU — Funeral services for O’Neal Peters, will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2023 in the chapel of Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time.

Interment will follow in Mermentau Cemetery.

O’Neal was born on June 14, 1940 in Samson, Ala., and was the son of Burtis Peters and Viola Jackson.

He retired a tugboat captain after 53 years. He loved being outdoors fishing and being out on the water, enjoyed working in his garden and watching hummingbirds and he loved going to the casino.

O’Neal is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Doris Peters; three step children, Michelle Ardoin (Ron) of Welsh, Randy Smith (Liz) of Vidor, Texas, and Don LeJeune (Heather) of Tee Mamou; four grandchildren, Kendra, Drake, Kelly and Kyle and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy and Konner.

O’Neal is preceded in death by his parents, Burtis and Viola Peters.

Those selected to serve as pallbearers will be O’Neal as pallbearers will be Randy Smith, Don LeJeune, Kyle LeJeune, Drake Gary, Ron Ardoin and AJ Landry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Shipman, Jeremy Shipman and Konner Alred.
