Ray Allen Simon

It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that our husband, brother and friend, Ray Allen Simon, passed away with the love of family and friends surrounding him on Feb. 8, 2022.

A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, with Brother Buddy Howard officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home beginning Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of his service at 3 p.m.

Burial will follow in Istre Cemetery.

Ray was born in Crowley on Aug. 14, 1956, to Philo Simon and Dorris Benoit.

Ray was employed by Lake Charles American Press for over 30 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and spending every chance he got out on the water.

Ray was a kind and generous man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ray is survived by his wife of 22 years, Donna Hydle Simon of Jennings; his stepson, Timothy Miller of Jennings; his daughter, Christie Oliver (James) of Crowley; and his six grandchildren.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Philo and Dorris Simon; and two infant sons.
