RITA MARIE CHAISSON

JENNINGS — Rita Marie Chaisson, 69, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Rita was born in Jennings on Friday, Dec. 4, 1953, and was the daughter of Paul and Leola Guidry Chaisson. Rita was a longtime parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching soap operas, helping with household chores and picking eggs. Rita loved cats. Above all, she was loved by all that knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Rita is survived by her brother, Michael Chaisson of Hathaway; her sisters, Catherine Fontenot of Lake Charles, Wanda Trahan of Jennings, Susan Myers (Peter) of Lake Arthur, Diana Chaisson of Pine Island; her nieces and nephews, Justin Vanicor, Kyle Vanicor, Joshua Kober, Jessica Broussard, Kamryn Andrus, Amy Trahan, Jamie Trahan, Ashley Myers Robicheaux, Daniel Myers, Chelsea Myers, Lee Orr; as well as six great nieces and nephews.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Leola Chaisson; her sister, Brenda Vanicor, and her brother-inlaw, Carl Trahan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Hathaway on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10 a.m. followed by burial in Pine Island Cemetery. Those chosen to honor Rita as her Pallbearers will be Joshua Kober, Lee Orr, Amy Trahan, Ashley Robicheaux, Chelsea Myers, and Kyle Vanicor.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA with a rosary recited at 5 p.m. by Deacon Mike Tramel. Visitation will resume Friday, May 12, 2023, at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
