Private funeral services for Mr. Robert J. Lopez will be held Monday May 4, 2020, in Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings.

Burial will be in Bertrand Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Mr. Robert James Lopez, 71, of Mermentau passed away April 30, 2020, at Lafayette General Hospital surrounded by his family.

Mr. Lopez was born Nov. 9, 1948, to Mr. Emerson and Lillian Lopez.

Mr. Lopez enjoyed camping, playing pool and spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers. He was a man of a simple life who had everything and would help everyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Dale Istre Lopez; his daughter, Brandy (Scott Fuselier) Lopez of Jennings; his son, Jonathan (Cindy) Lopez of Cabot, Ark.; his mother, Lillian Lopez of Jennings; and his grandchildren, Kristian Lopez, Tyler Fuselier, Matthew Anderson and Michael Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emerson Lopez; two sisters, Betty Stutes and Barbara Courville; and his father-in-law, Clifton Istre.

Carrying Mr. Lopez to his final resting place will be Michael Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Tyler Fuselier, Christopher Istre, Coty Courville and Brice Lepretre.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kristian Lopez, Keith Stutes, Mark Courville and Jeremy Comeaux.
