Rodney Bergeaux
Funeral services for Rodney Bergeaux, 83, of Basile will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 2 p.m.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home beginning today, Tuesday, May 4, 2021, from 4-8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the time of his service at 2 p.m.
Burial will follow in St. Jules/Tee Mamou Cemetery.
Rodney was born in Basile on Sept. 27, 1937, to Adrien Bergeaux and Effie Doucet Bergeaux. He was called from this earthly life by his Heavenly Father on May 2, 2021.
Rodney retired from the oilfield after many years as a contractor. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing cards and watching football and Western movies.
Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Wanda Bergeaux of Jennings; his son, Tony Bergeaux (Glenda) of Jennings; his daughter, Phyllis Bergeaux of Jennings; his stepdaughters, Cherie Istre (Louis) of Jennings and Trisha Anderson of Jennings; his grandchildren, Stuart Bergeaux, Candie Deshotel, Chelsea Deshotel, Blake Bergeaux, Amy Ortego, Scott Stanton, Shelly Stanton, Brandy Morado, Nick Kunzler and Hailey Kunzler; his 19 great-grandchildren; his brother, Murray Bergeaux of Hathaway; and his sister, Ruth Crochet of Jennings.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Adrien and Effie Bergeaux; his son, Chris Bergeaux; his stepson, Darren Kebodeaux; and his siblings, Richard Bergeaux, Ervin Bergeaux, Julius Bergeaux, Vernon Bergeaux, Terry Bergeaux, Vina Miller, Mildred Fontenot, Hannah Miller, Ethel Ardoin and Margie Cormier.
Those chosen to honor Rodney as his pallbearers will be Tony Bergeaux, Stuart Bergeaux, Charlie Broussard, Louis Istre, Nick Kunzler and Jude Burton, Jr.
