Ruby Newman

JENNINGS — A Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Ruby Lavergne Newman, 94, will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, beginning at 2 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jennings with Father Trey Ange officiating.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday at Miguez Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time to depart from church at 1:45 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Ruby was born on Dec. 28, 1929, in Jennings to Willie Lavergne and Zora Doucet. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her family and cherished her grandchildren deeply.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her daughter, Sue Newman Robson; son, Daryl Wayne (Blanca) Newman; grandchildren, Melanie (Joe) Hollier, Andrea (Joey) Strozik, Bryan W. (Sarah) Newman; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Richard, Jared Richard, Allyson Richard, Peyton Hollier, Carson Hollier, Mason Strozik, Adrianna Strozik; and great-great grandchildren, A’llyvia, Hunter Richard, Ocean, Marlie Richard, and David Oliver.

She now rejoices in Heaven with her beloved husband, Lionel Newman; her parents; one grandchild, Marla Robson; and one great-great grandchild, Addison Richard.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
