Sandra Lynn Johnson

Sandra Lynn Johnson Trahan, 79, passed peacefully away at her daughters’ home in Youngsville surrounded by her loving family on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2019, at 9:14 p.m.

Family and friends are invited to attend Sandy’s funeral services in Jennings at Miguez Funeral Home so we may together express our final goodbyes.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, in Miguez Funeral Home chapel, with Markham Ray Trahan, Jr., officiating.

Funeral home visitation will be held from 4:30-8 p.m. Friday, and will continue Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

She was born in Jennings in September of 1940, where she grew up and married her high school sweetheart, Markham Ray Trahan, Sr.

After several moves in relation to Markham’s career, approximately 40 years ago, they settled the family in Lafayette, where she then worked and lived until today. She was a resident of Courtyard Manor Nursing Home for the past 10 years due to a struggle with dementia/Alzheimer’s, but by the request of family was taken home to spend her final days with loved ones under the professional care of Hospice of Acadiana. Our deepest thanks go out to this wonderfully supportive and comforting organization and each individual staff member who cared for our Mom.

Sandy attended Jennings High School, where she was a Bulldog cheerleader and was voted “prettiest ears.” She also attended SLI and was educated to pursue a career as a medical technologist, but later became a talented florist and hard-working real estate agent where she made many wonderful friends. She will be remembered for her love of playing cards, board games, singing happy songs, fishing and spending time outdoors with family and friends.

She was a fun-loving person and a devoted mother to her four amazingly beautiful children who honor and survive her and will deeply miss Mom: Markham Ray Trahan, Jr., and wife Susan, Robin Trahan Benoit, Michael David Trahan and wife Chanda, and Christopher John Trahan. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, and three (with one on the way) great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Albert Sydney Johnson, Sr., and Marvel Andrus Johnson, Jr., and by her one and only favorite brother, Albert Sidney Johnson III.

Although our mom has passed in body, her memory will live in our hearts forever.

Words of comfort may be expressed to the family at www.miguezfuneralhome.com.
