Shirley Ann Harmon
A Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley Ann Harmon of Jennings will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Jennings at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, with Father Jude Fernando officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, from 8 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass.
Burial will follow in Our Lady Perpetual Help Cemetery. Shirley Ann Harmon was born July 25, 1951, in New Orleans to the late Ethel Hardy and Jules Malbrough. She was then adopted by Elvina Williams.
She was immersed in the Christian Community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. Shirley was a devoted and involved member of OLPH. She was a part of Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, OLPH Choir and the prayer warrior of The Legion of Mary. Shirley enjoyed reading, watching sports, baking and playing bingo.
Shirley was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend, James G. Harmon, and later had five children and help raised two additional kids with patience and discipline: Joseph (Charla) Riley, Henry (Siara) Riley, III, Doris Riley, James G. Harmon, Kayla (Joseph) Janice and Shirley (Dwight) Freeman. She is survived by her sisters, Juanita Malbrough, LouElla (Larry) Malbrough, Marylin (Gabe) Reed and Alberta Francois and her brother, Arzenor Hardy, Jr.
Shirley is predeceased by her parents, Elvina Williams, Ethel Hardy and Jules Malbrough; her sisters, Helen Lasalle, Wanda Latigue and Solomy Malbrough; her brothers, Tommy Malbrough and Julius Malbrough and one son, John V. Harmon.
Shirley will also be sadly missed by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren, family and friends and special childhood friends, Ms. Lovie and Ms. Lauren.
