Stephen ‘Steve’ Naquin
Stephen “Steve” James Naquin, 69, of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at a Chattanooga health care facility following an accidental fall.
His family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home of Cleveland.
He was born Nov. 30, 1951, in Houma. Steve worked in the oil fields through college and received his BS degree in electrical engineering from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Before graduation, he married Judy Tipton on May 15, 1974, in Jennings.
He worked as an electrical engineer for Texas Instruments in Shreveport and was transferred to Houston, Texas. Steve eventually worked for Olin Chemicals in Lake Charles, and in 1989 he moved to Cleveland, Tenn., with Olin and retired in 2020 after 40 years of service.
Steve enjoyed playing golf with his Olin buddies. He was a “Jack of all trades” and constantly trained himself to do whatever task he needed at the time. Steve also enjoyed playing the guitar, which he taught himself to play.
He was a man of faith and loved studying the Bible. Steve was a loving husband, father, “Papa,” son and brother.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 47 years, Judy Maureen Tipton Naquin of Cleveland; his daughter, Keri Naquin Cochran and husband, Chet of Oakdale, Tenn.; his son, Stephen Brandon Naquin and wife, Megan of Cleveland; grandchildren, Ellison “Ellie” Maureen Cochran, Owen Dean Cochran and Madeleine James Naquin; mother, Lillian Leger Naquin of Midland, Texas; sisters, Amy Whiteaker (Buck) of Muscoda, WI and Jennifer Stewart (Eddie) of Midland, Texas; twin sister, Stephanie Lentz of Round Rock, Texas; sisters-in-law, Marion Cooper of DeQuincy and Karla Cart (Mark) of Humble, Texas; nieces and nephews, Deann, Melanie, Katie, Tiffany, Jordan, Josh, Ben, Deanna and Frank; great nieces and nephews, Angel, Anthony, Maggie, Lily, Ashleigh, Paysen, Carson, Leslie, Blaise, Sydney, Emily, Chloe and Alex; great great niece, Dylaina LeBlanc; several aunts; an uncle; numerous cousins; and his faithful dog, Penny Jane.
He was preceded in death by his father, E. A. “Noc” Naquin; brother, Wayne Anthony Naquin; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, W. A. Tipton, Sr. and Vera Tipton Vessel.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Cleveland Fire Department and EMT, Station 1, 555 S. Ocoee Street, Cleveland TN 37311. They are appreciative of the compassion and care shown Steve by the Paul Huff Parkway location.
