Thelma ‘Tiny’ Portie

LAKE ARTHUR — A Celebration of Life for Thelma “Tiny” Portie, 67, of Lake Arthur was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 9 a.m. until the time of her service at 3 p.m.

Thelma was laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery.

Thelma was born in Ville Platte on Sept. 25, 1954, to Clifford Pitre and Versie Bolfa and was called to her Heavenly Father on July 20, 2022.

Thelma was a homemaker who dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She loved playing bingo, pokeno and cards, as well as watching the Hallmark Channel and any TV. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Thelma was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Thelma is survived by her two brothers, Donald Pitre (Barbara) of Jennings and Tommy Pitre (Theresa) of Deridder and her three sisters, Merline Landry (Edward) of Jennings, Geneva Mire of Lake Arthur and Bernadine LaCoste (Ronald) of Lake Arthur, as well as numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Versie Pitre; her husband, Cecil Portie; her sister, Lou Anna Teal; her twin sister, Velma Reed; her brother, Jerald Pitre; her nephews, Curtis Teal, Cody Pitre, Dennis Landry, Tommy Pitre, Jr. and her niece, Meranda Bagwell.
