Wanda Bergeaux
Funeral services for Wanda Bergeaux, 78 of Jennings will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home beginning today, Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, from 8 a.m. until the time of her service at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. Jules/Tee Mamou Cemetery. Wanda was born in Eunice on July 8, 1944, to Shelby Fontenot and Stella Roberie Fontenot.
She was called from this earthly life by her Heavenly Father on Dec. 19, 2022.
Wanda was a homemaker who dedicated her life to care for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, going to the casino and playing cards, even though she was known to cheat.
Wanda adored her children and grandchildren and loved spending time and making memories with all of them. Her dog, “Frankie,” held a special place in her heart.
She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Cherie Istre (Louis) of Jennings and Trisha Anderson of Lake Charles; her stepson, Tony Bergeaux (Glenda) of Jennings; her stepdaughter, Phylis Maynard of Jennings; her grandchildren, Justin, Scott, Brandy, Shelly, Nick, Hailey, Michael, Chad, Lynnette, Stuart, Candie, Chelsea, Blake and Amy; her 19 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jerry Fontenot (Carline) of Evangeline and her sisters, Bonnie Boudreaux (Smokey) of Iota, Anna Comeaux (Jim) of Iota and Nora Delp of Jennings.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Shelby and Stella Fontenot; her beloved husband, Rodney Bergeaux; her son, Darren Kebodeaux; her daughter, Veronica Kebodeaux; her stepson, Chris Bergeaux; her brothers, Robert Fontenot, Michael Fontenot and Donald Fontenot and her sister, Barbara Burton.
Those chosen to honor Wanda as her pallbearers will be Scott Stanton, Louis Istre, Nick Kunzler, Marc Morado, David Rountree and Todd Fontenot.
The Bergeaux family would also like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the compassionate staff of both Camelot Brookside and LAMM hospice for taking such loving care of Mom in her last days.
