Wilda Mae Thibodeaux LeJeune
A Mass of Christian burial for Wilda Mae Thibodeaux LeJeune, 85, of Mermentau will be held at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau, with Father Randall Moreau and Father Andrew Schumacher officiating.
Visitation was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, from 3-9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume today, Thursday, at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral Mass.
Wilda will be laid to rest in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery.
Wilda was born in Mermentau on Dec. 30, 1936, to Lurnie Thibodeaux and Volla Hulin Thibodeaux. She was called to her Heavenly Father on Feb. 7, 2022.
Wilda was a homemaker who dedicated her life to taking care of her family and was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Ladies Altar Society.
She loved to quilt, crochet and make Christmas ornaments. Wilda never met a stranger and she loved to visit and drink coffee with family and friends.
Her greatest joys came from Sunday dinners with her family, holding all her grandbabies and great-grandbabies and just making memories with all of them. Wilda was a kind and loving person she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Wilda is survived by four sons, Brian (Chris) LeJeune of Lafayette, Stephen (Gail) LeJeune of Iota, Timmy (Lisa) LeJeune of Mermentau and Jonathan (Stacy) LeJeune of Mermentau; her sister, Percella Adams of Morse; her 17 grandchildren, Candace, Justin, Jenna, Jacob, Jordan, Jade, Jessy, Joshua, Brandon, Jessica, Bethany, Cade, Courtney, Caitlyn, Emily, Elliot and Caleb; and her 34 great-grandchildren.
Wilda was preceded in death by her parents, Lurnie “Pete” and Volla Thibodeaux; and her beloved husband, Lester LeJeune.
Those chosen to honor Wilda as her pallbearers will be Joshua LeJeune, Brandon LeJeune, Cade LeJeune, Justin LeJeune, Jacob LeJeune and Elliot Douget.
Honorary pallbearer will be Alex Morgan.
