Wilfred Lee Martin

GUEYDAN - Wilfred was born on Jan. 28, 1938, in Andrus Cove to Benjamin Martin, Sr., and Maria Roy Martin and was called to his Heavenly Father on Oct. 11, 2020.

The family of Mr. Martin decided to honor his wishes of Cremation. A graveside service may be announced at a later date.

He served our country honorably in the U.S. Army. Wilfred loved playing the guitar and the accordion. He was member of the Cajun Aces and many more bands. Wilfred also loved to sit and sing with everyone. He sang at Gueydan Nursing Home for all the residents where he was living. Wilfred will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wilfred is survived by his wife, Mable Martin of Gueydan; his brother, Donald (Paula) Martin; his sister-in-law, Pam Martin; his grandchildren, Timothy (Holly) Fontenot, Shannon (Linda) Vidrine and Robert Bergeaux; his five great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Wilfred was preceded in death by his beloved family, including his parents, Benjamin and Maria R. Martin, Sr.; his brothers, Martin Jules (Yvonne H.) Martin and Benjamin Martin, Jr.; his sisters, Mary Lou M. (A.J.) Guidry and Martha Mae M. (Perry) LeGros; and his stepchildren, Melvin Dale Vidrine and Glenda Vidrine.
