Rose Ann Grice

It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Rose Ann Grice announces her passing from this life on June 12, 2018, at the age of 79.

Funeral Services for Rose Ann Grice, 79, of Jennings will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 10 a.m., with Reverend Paul Estes and Reverend Godis Grice officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of her service at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Peterson Cemetery.

Rose was born in Welsh to Henry Grice, Sr. and Mary Edolia Small on Sept. 11, 1938. She dedicated her life to the care of her family. Rose loved to cook, bake and sew in her spare time. She also loved just sitting on her porch and rocking, most of all she loved the time she spent with all of her family. Rose was a kind and loving, soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rose is survived by her three sons, Lester James Drake of Jennings, Wilfred Lee Drake of Kinder and Shannon W. Drake, Sr of Mermentau; her two daughters, Lucy Drake Lyons of Jennings and Karen Drake Levi of Jennings; her two sisters, Mary Alice Foster of Houston, Texas, and Hester Frank of Lake Charles; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Grice; her son, Walter J. Drake, Jr; her daughter, Edolia Marie Drake Neal; as well as six brothers.

Carrying Rose to her final resting place will be Robert Mouton, Walter Drake, III, Rocky Jackson, Dominique McZeal, Terry Jackson, Mario Lyons, Lucy Drake Lyons, Karen Drake Levi and Hester Frank.

The family of Rose Ann Grice will be holding a Repass at: Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 920 S. Broadway, Jennings, LA 70546.
