Velda Theunissen

Funeral services for Mrs. Velda Theunissen, 82, formerly of Jennings, will be held today, Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church at 10 a.m., with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating.

Visitation was held from 2-8 p.m. Monday and will continue from 8 a.m. today, Tuesday, until time of service. A Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Mrs. Theunissen passed away Oct. 27, 2018, in Maurice. She was born July 25, 1936, in Jennings to Cheavry and Rena Fontenot Guidry. She worked as a Walmart associate in Jennings for 22 years and as a pre-k aide at Our Lady Immaculate School.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pirmin Theunissen; her parents, Cheavy and Rena Fontenot Guidry; grandson, Brian Patrick Theunissen; brother, Donald “Tony” Guidry; and sister, Verna Mae Ippolito.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Denise Theunissen, Mary LaFleur and husband Bentley of Lafayette, Stephen Theunissen and wife Carole of Abbeville, David Theunissen of Monroe and Michael Theunissen and wife Kim of Baton Rouge and Ann Johnson and husband Jay of Wilmington, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 stepgreat-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Angie Theunissen.
