Una M. Richard
It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Una M. Richard announces her passing from this life on Dec. 6, 2019, at the age of 101.
Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., with Reverend Paul Nugent and Reverend Rod LeJeune officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home beginning today, Sunday, Dec. 8, from 4-9 p.m. The family requests that visitation resume Monday, Dec. 9, from 8 a.m. until the time of her service at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow her services in Bluff Cemetery.
Una was born in Iota to Adam Miller and Rosilee Miller on April 9, 1918. She was a homemaker who dedicated her life to the care of her family. Una loved to work around her house and cook for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Una is survived by her two sons, Gene Richard (Susie) of Bluff and Harvey Richard (Virginia) of Bluff; her four daughters, Iris Gatte of Evangeline, Carol Ardoin of Evangeline, Elsie Gatte (Danny) of Gotts Cove and Connie Bergeaux (Russell, Jr.) of Evangeline; 27 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; 80 great great-grandchildren; and two great great great-grandchildren.
Una was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Rosilee Miller; her husband, Amos Richard; her daughter, Evelyn McFarlain; her son, Curtis Richard; her brothers, Henry Miller, Henriel Miller, Walter Miller, Curley Miller, Culver Miller and Marion Miller; and her sisters, Rosa Chaisson and Eunice Daigle.
Those chosen to honor Una as her pallbearers are Bruce Norwood, Nacis Gatte, Travis Gatte, Blaze Phillips, Dennis Phillips and Harley Duhon.
The family would to send a special thank you to Danny and Elsa Gatte for taking such wonderful care for three-plus years.
