Cheryl Ann Bergeaux
It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Cheryl Ann Bergeaux announces her passing from this life on Feb. 19, 2020, at the age of 58.
Funeral services for Cheryl Ann Bergeaux, 58, of Evangeline, was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Benji Richard officiating.
A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 21, from 2:30-9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed Saturday, Feb. 22, from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 10 a.m.
Cheryl was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
Cheryl was born in Jennings to Dalton Deshotel and Talley Reed on Feb. 10, 1962. Cheryl worked as a store clerk for Daigle’s 66 for 15 years, as well as Jefferson Davis Parish School Board for a number of years. She really enjoyed working. Cheryl loved cooking and going to the beach. Her greatest joys came from spending time with all of her family and her dog, Jackson. She was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish their memories of Cheryl are her partner of 14 years, Kevin Canik of Evangeline; her son, Eric Bergeaux of Evangeline; her two daughters, Brandi Schneider (Gregg) of Evangeline and Ashley Douget (Justin) of Iota; her four grandchildren, Alex, Brianna, Noah and Aubrey; her six brothers, Tommy Deshotel of Morse, Ray Deshotel of Baldwin, Terry Crochet of Starks, Tony Deshotel of Jennings, Chad Deshotel of Sulphur and J.R. Deshotel of Jennings; her five sisters, Janet Traylor of Port Barre, Tracy Benoit of Lake Arthur, Diana Deshotel of Georgia, Darla Deshotel-Alexander of Jennings and Terrie Deshotel of Jennings.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Dalton Deshotel and Talley Reed; her stepfather, O’Neal Crochet; her twin sister and brother, Diana and Darrell Deshotel; and her sister, Kimberly Deshotel.
Those chosen to honor Cheryl as her pallbearers will be Eric Bergeaux, Gregg Schneider, Justin Douget, Noah Douget, Chad Britt and Terry Crochet.
