Cecil Francis Portie

LAKE ARTHUR - Funeral services for Cecil Francis Portie, 76, of Lake Arthur will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2020.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home Thursday, June 18, 2020, at 9 a.m. until the time of his service at 2 p.m.

Burial will follow Lakeview Cemetery.

Cecil was born Dec. 28, 1943, to Alphonise Portie and Ira Broussard. He was called from this earthly life by his Heavenly Father on June 16, 2020.

He loved the outdoors, fishing and working in his garden. He also enjoyed collecting coins and visiting with family and friends. Most of all, Cecil loved his wife. He held her high upon a pedestal; she was his world. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Thelma P. Portie of Lake Arthur; his daughter, Lisa Portie of Missouri; his three grandchildren, Brandon, Nicole and Aunicka; and his 11 nieces and nephews; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Apphonise and Ira Portie; and his brother, Riley Portie.

Those chosen to honor Cecil as his pallbearers will be Jerrel Lacoste, Marcus Bagwell, Kenny Landry, R.J. LeVergne, J.J. Pitre and Chad Pitre.
