Juanita Marie Lopez

It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Juanita Marie Lopez announces her passing from this life on Jan. 11, 2021, at the age of 89.

Funeral services were held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at 2 p.m., with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of her service at 2 p.m., with a rosary recited at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in Bertrand Cemetery.

Juanita was born in Jennings to Dewitt Smith and Eva Boudreaux Smith on Oct. 2, 1931. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother and cherished friend who dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family. Juanita enjoyed visiting with family and friends and making beautiful memories. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Juanita is survived by her children, Roger (Stacy) Humble of Avondale, Donna Humble of Jennings, Richard (Tammy) Lopez of Jennings, Mark Lopez of Sulphur and Dean Lopez (Samantha Bouley) of Iota; her daughter-in-law, Karen Humble of Oregon; her 13 grandchildren, including three she raised as her own, Mark, Dean and Billy; her 26 great-grandchildren; and her two great great-grandchildren.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Dewitt and Eva Smith; her first husband, Robert Humble; her second husband, Alex Lopez; her daughter, Carol Humble; and her son, Bobby Humble.

Those chosen to honor her as her pallbearers were Richard Lopez, Mark Lopez, Roger Humble, Dean Lopez, Billy Humble and Gage Lopez.
