David Davenport
A memorial visitation honoring the life of David Davenport, 75, was held Monday, March 8, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Miguez Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements were made through Miguez Funeral Home.
Mr. Davenport passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 4, 2021. He was born in Ponca City, Okla., on Feb. 9, 1946, to Dave and Frances Baustert Davenport.
Mr. Davenport had a BS degree and was a retired deputy with Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, as well as a retired trooper with Louisiana State Police. His career in law enforcement spanned over 50 years. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam War.
Mr. Davenport was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed shooting, hunting, camping and politics. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He also went to the gym everyday, where he enjoyed weightlifting. He loved his two dogs and his grand dog.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Billie Jane Deshotel Davenport; a daughter, Laura Davenport of Lake Charles; son, Paul Davenport of Roanoke; three sisters, Lynda (Gaston) Davenport-Evans of Lake Charles, Helen (Chris) Roberie of Baton Rouge and Mara (Mike) O’Carrol of Montgomery, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
