James Riley Epperly, Jr.

James Riley Epperly, Jr. passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021, at the age of 78. He was a native of Welsh and a resident of LaPlace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral service at First Baptist Church, located at 120 Ormond Blvd. in Laplace, on Friday, March 19, 2021. Visitation will be held at the church from 2-4 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4

A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 10 a.m. in Oaklawn Cemetery, located at 501 Beaufort St. in Welsh under the direction of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home.

James proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He retired from Entergy in Valero after 30-plus years. James was the Past Grandmaster of the St. Charles Lodge No. 445, as well as a member of the Shriners.

In his free time, he would ride his motorcycle throughout Louisiana.

James was the beloved husband of 56 years to Mary Epperly and father to Dennis (Chantelle) Epperly, Russell (Wendy) Epperly, Todd Epperly and Thomas (Cherakee) Epperly. He was the grandfather to Rusty, Kevin, T.J., Dustin, Breanna, Alysa, Layken and Bailey Epperly, Lauren( Coker) Moeller and Trinity Mince and the greatgrandfather to Wylie and Charlie Moeller. He was the brother of John (Carolyn) Epperly and Richard (Ludy) Epperly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Riley Epperly and Hattie Mae Pickett.
