John David Mallett

The family and friends of John David Mallett are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on May 14, 2021, at the age of 80.

Funeral services for John David Mallett were held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 16, 2021, with Charles Manuel officiating.

Visitation was held at the funeral home Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 4-9 p.m. Visitation resumed Sunday, May 16, 2021, from 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral service.

Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

John was born in Welsh to August Mallett and Elouise Trahan Mallett on Feb. 14, 1941.

John worked in the oilfield as a welder. He loved playing music, camping and doing anything outdoors. John loved making everyone laugh. John was a kind man with a sweet soul who was loved by many.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Lonie Broussard Mallett of Jennings; his son, Glenn Mallett (Angela) of Jennings; his two daughters, Nicole Mallett of Gueydan and Amanda Daigle of Jennings; his two stepsons, Roddy Hymel of Jennings and Randall Hymel of Jennings; his stepdaughter, Rhonda Hymel (Julietta) of Katy, Texas; his grandchildren, Terry Breaux, Chris Mallett, Dylan Smith (Holly), Krystal Mallett, Bryce Mallett, Damon Hymel (Shay), Lacie Hymel, Ashley and Jeff Bennett and Hannah Holland (Will).

John was preceded in death by his parents, August and Elouise Mallett; his two sisters, Lilia May Deval and Betty Vincent; and his brother, Thomas Mallett.

Carrying John to his final resting place will be Chris Mallett, Dylan Smith, Damon Hymel, Jeff Bennett, Bryce Mallett and Josiah Mallett.
