Michael James Brown
Celebration of Life services for Michael James Brown, 62, of Jennings will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2021, in Union Baptist Church, located at 1014 S. Main St. in Jennings. Reverend Gerald W. Perkins, Sr., pastor, will officiate. Visiting with family and friends will be held from 9-11 a.m.
Burial will be held in Benevolent Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings. Military Honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army.
Michael passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born Nov. 23, 1959, to Albert Brown and Emily Simon Brown. Michael was educated in the Jeff Davis Parish school system. After completing high school, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge after serving eight years.
Michael worked as a deputy with the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Department and later worked for the State of Louisiana as a security guard with SOWELA Community College in Jennings.
Michael was a dedicated New Orleans Saints football fFan and loved spending time with family and friends.
Michael is survived by two daughters, Courtney Brown (Brandon Lavan) of Elton and Tatiyana Brown of ScottA; two grandkids, Zeedyn Samone Kirk and Za’Niya Shari Kirk, both of Scott; his father, Albert Brown of Jennings; his sister, Nedra Candler (Anthony Sr.) of Jennings; and a host of other family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Emily Simon Brown; his brother, Randall Brown; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
