Sharla was born March 15, 1947, to Harvey and Dorothy Broussard in Jennings. She married Artie Miller on Jan. 3, 1964. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage together.

Sharla was a fixture in the stands at any volleyball match in the state of Texas and was well-known by several generations of both players and coaches. She was especially fond of the lucky few to wear the number 7 on their jersey, as her daughters and granddaughters all wore that number during their many seasons of competition over the years.
Sharla is survived by her husband, Artie Miller; her daughters, Angie Sparks and husband Steve and Shawn Shackelford and husband Jason; her sons, Kendall and wife Kathleen and Kevin and wife Nicole; her grandchildren, Jacqueline Hodges and husband Mark, Wayne Sparks, Kaitlyn and Kristen Miller, Stuart Flowers and wife Taylor, Kassidy and Skyler Shackelford and Madelyn and Kyan Miller; and her great-grandchildren, Beaux and Haddie Hodges and Rylan Flowers.
