Evelyn Mary Hanks Cormier

WELSH — Evelyn Mary Cormier, born in Church Point on June 5, 1934, daughter of the late Ovey Joseph and Madora Mary (Morvant) Hanks, departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at the age of 87.

Funeral services will be held in Johnson and Brown Funeral Home of Iowa at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service, with a rosary recited at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Pine Island Cemetery.

Evelyn was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she was a member of Ladies Altar Society. She loved quilting, embroidery, baking and decorating cakes.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Elaine Granger, Edith Daigle (Russell) and Kirby Cormier, Jr.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren, with three great great-grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Kirby Cormier, Sr.; sons, Johnny Cormie and Stanford Cormier; daughter-in-law, Shere Cormier; and son-in-law, Onezine Granger.
