Martha Istre Racca
Martha Istre Racca, 98, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022, in Lake Charles.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at Our Lady Help Of Christian Catholic Church in Jennings at 2 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2022, officiated by Rev. Trey Ange. Scripture readings were given by Wendy Daigle and Michelle Moore.
A gathering of relatives and friends was held Monday, March 28, 2022, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings beginning at 9:30 a.m., with services immediately following.
A rosary was recited at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
She was born Aug. 15, 1923, to Annie Fruge and Eugene Istre in Acadia Parish and was a longtime resident of Jennings, where she married the late Ray A. Racca and raised their two daughters.
She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. In her spare time, Martha loved planting flowers in her garden, sharing a cup of coffee with the neighbors and loved her time at the beauty shop. She was a loving mother and adored her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Martha leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughters, Donna Racca Goodeaux of Conroe, Texas, and Martha “Cissy” Racca Duhon (Jerry) of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; grandchildren Brandon Moore (Michelle), Scott Daigle (Wendy), Jamie Bennett (Bryant) and Dana Mathews (Jeff); stepgrandson Dusty Duhon (Candis); great-grandchildren Alexis, Kaitlyn and Jacob Moore, Matthew and Andrew Daigle, Austin and Mary-Kate Bennett, Brad Matthews (Nicole), Anna Domingue (Trevor), Emma Mathews and Clara Mathews; and greatgrandchildren Kasyn, J.B., Kennedy Matthews and Wesley Domingue; step great-grandchildren Dayton and Laney Duhon; her brother, Carol Istre (Sandra) of Hammond; as well as Mr. Donnie Daigle.
Martha is reunited with those who preceded her in death, including her beloved husband, Ray A. Racca; her mother and father, Annie and Eugene Istre; sister Lena Hudson (Henry); and brother Theodore Istre.
The family extends their sincere gratitude and appreciation to her dear friend and hair stylist, Martha Buller Baudoin, for her friendship and loving care shown to our Mom.
