Joyce Fontenot

The family and friends of Joyce Fontenot are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on June 1, 2022, at the age of 91.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jennings, with Father Trey Ange’ officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 2:30-8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed Monday, June 6, 2022, from 8 a.m. until time to proceed to the church for her funeral mass at 9:30 a.m.

Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery.

Joyce was born in Jennings to Henry Fontenot and Henrietta Pettijean Fontenot on Aug. 9, 1930. She worked as a housekeeper.

Joyce was a longtime parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and head of the Adoration Chapel. Joyce liked to cook and bake, and she loved her church.

She was a loving and kindhearted woman and will be immensely missed by all who loved her.

Those left to cherish the memories of Joyce are her sister, Anna Ruhland of Jennings, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and others relatives.

Joyce is now with family that preceded in death, including her parents, Henry and Henrietta Fontenot, six sisters and five brothers.
