Marie Joyce Monceaux
On Thursday, March 26, 2020, our loving mother, Marie Joyce Broussard Monceaux, passed peacefully into the evening. That period was the beginning of what proved to be an arduous trial for the world, our country, our communities, our friends and our families. Rather than hold a service in solitude, our family chose to wait until her passing could be celebrated in a manner fitting of her life and devotion to her family and faith.
That time has now arrived. Please join our family in a celebration of Mom’s life on Friday, July 8, 2022. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. and her funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church at 9 a.m., followed by a graveside service act Shell Beach Cemetery and a reception at the Oustalet Center in Lake Arthur.
She is survived by her children, Herman (Michelle) of Lake Charles, Jenelle (Will Fontenot) of Lake Arthur, Dale (Anne Louise) of Batavia, Ohio, and Jackie Valdetero (John) of Abbeville; her 14 grandchildren, Bennett and Brandon Monceaux, Andrea M. Ward, Paytra and Coltra Thibodeaux, Genevieve M. Smith, Adam, Alex and Catherine Monceaux and Audrey and Lance Cpl. Nick Valdetero, USMC, and 13 great-grandchildren, David and Cameron Monceaux, Adrienne, Elizabeth and Joseph Ward, Eibhlin and Keating Monceaux, Zoe and Ethan Missar and Harper and Alex Smith, Gregory and Dylan Colson, Emma Grace and her canine companion, Missy.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; sons Bennett and Norman; parents Phillipe and Agnes Broussard; sister Loudia Boudreaux; brothers Louis and Phillipe Broussard, Jr., and son-in-law Robert P. Thibodeaux.
The family wishes to express our sincerest gratitude to Earline LaDelle for the love and care given to our mother.
