Gerhard Hommel

Mr. Gerhard Hommel, 71, passed away on Nov. 26, 2022, in Baton Rouge.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services, officiated by Father Miller of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, will begin at 1 p.m.

Gerhard was born June 16, 1951 in Celle, Germany.

He was employed by DuPont Chemical Company in Orange, Texas, for many years. He met and married the love of his life, Saritha Hensley Hommel, and after his retirement relocated their family to Jennings, where he resided until his passing.

Gerhard remained a faithful and devoted husband and is happily reunited with her.

Gerhard is survived by three children, Rachel Lea Henderson (Clayton) of Lumberton, Texas, Aaron Hommel of Orange, Texas, and Jonathan Dean Hommel (Erin) of Galveston, Texas; his grandchildren, Isaac, Wesley, Camden and Abigail; two brothers, David Hommel (Sherry) of Woodville, Texas, and Robert Hommel (Sherry) of Bridge City, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Gerhard’s family would like to acknowledge and express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the dear and lifelong friends who remained in his life for their kindness, care and support given to him over the years.
