The family requests that visitation resume today, Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery. Betty was born on May 15, 1929 in Elton to Theotise Fontenot and Valcour Ardoin. After graduating from Jennings High School in 1946, she earned her bookkeeping certification and went on to work at the Strand Theater, where she met and eventually married the love of her life, Elery, with whom she shared 67 happy years of marriage.

Betty touched the lives of many people over the years through the various positions she held at More Mileage, The Strand, Cormier’s Grocery and Ardoin’s Drug Store.

Betty and Elery remained devoted and rooted in their Catholic faith and raised their family to share those same values. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings; and happily, served her community as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound, teaching catechism in the 1970’s; and was a longtime member of both the Ladies Alter Society and the Catholic Daughters. Betty loved sharing the gift of the Holy Rosary and faithfully recited countless rosaries in the community over the years. In 2011, she was professionally recorded sharing her love for both the rosary and her native french language. Betty truly loved people and was a vibrant host, opening her home to family and friends for gatherings and playing dominos. Betty always knew the greatest gifts came from above, and lived everyday by the mantra “Blessed with the Best.”

She was an exemplary mother, friend and Christian, and the seeds of love she sowed throughout her life will be lovingly remembered by those whose lives she touched.

Betty is survived by her six children Yvette LeBlanc (Danny) of Jennings, Brian LeGros (Cindy) of Broussard, Drew LeGros of Lafayette, Philip LeGros (Sofia) of Jennings, Robert LeGros of Austin, Texas, and Yvonne Eastman (Steve) of Jennings; her 19 grandchildren, Chad, Bridget, Aaron, Desiree, Josh, Jayme, Jordan, Jesse, Jimmie, Jeremy, Jayce, Badiha, Carlos, Giovani, Sadie, Josiah, Samuel, Sophie and Haleigh; her 39 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren, as well as her sister-in-law, Jeanette Guidry of Lake Arthur.

Betty is reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Elery John LeGros; her parents, Theotise and Valcour Ardoin; her brothers, Maurice, Johnny and Bobby Ardoin; sisters, Alice Rhodes, Effie Darbonne, Ellen Manuel and Evelyn Ardoin and one grandson, Christopher Paul LeGros.

Honoring Betty as pallbearers in carrying her to her final resting place will be her grandsons.
